How to share a quotation online: links beat attachments

Sharing a quotation online means generating a login-free URL. The buyer opens it in a browser, reviews lines and totals, and can download PDF. Quotely’s Share action can add an access code and revoke old links.

That is different from emailing Word or Excel: attachments multiply copies. A link points at the quote you saved.

When to use a link vs PDF

Use a link while negotiating: change qty or discount, the client refreshes, no “please see latest attachment.”

Use PDF when they need to archive, approve internally, or print for signature. The share page can download PDF, so you can offer both.

Steps

Save the quote, click Share in the list, copy the URL, optionally enable an access code, and send it by email or chat.

View counts show whether it was opened. If the link leaked or the quote is void, revoke and generate a new one.

What the client sees

No signup. Full lines, summary, and payment info, with PDF or image download. Open the live demo to check layout as the buyer.

Safety and follow-up

Do not post share links in public forums. Use an access code for a named buyer. Unshared quotes are not indexed.

A link answers “did they see it.” Invoices still belong in finance. A quotation is not an invoice—see Quotation vs invoice.
